Poet Sarah Ashwood’s work belies her age. An eclectic for sure, Ms. Ashwood writes with a flair often found in volumes written during the rise of The Flower Power Generation of the mid 60s. This volume of poems shows off her talents in venues of style that will stir the reader’s senses in a purely delightful and thought provoking way. For those science fiction and fantasy junkies among us, Ms. Ashwood’s Sun Slayer will evoke raw emotions. Another haunting poem is Rediscover Roanoke. It is a bittersweet poem that is definitely a tribute to the Lost Colony without fanfare or commentary. In this volume one will find pirates, dragons, a Yankee soldier who falls in love with a beautiful ghost and much more. The illustrations in this volume help with Ms. Ashwood’s word imagery and enhance the book. We can probably expect more for the skillful pen of Sarah Ashwood in the near future. Keep an eye out for this young rising star.—Steven Fivecats, Editor

  1. I have really enjoyed “A Minstrel’s Musings”. Every poem paints an incredibly rich picture. For a moment I get to escape my little everyday valley and view the world from the mountain top. Everyday topics look just a little different from up there, and with Ms Ashwood’s help, I can spy the hidden dragons that lurk among us.

  2. This book is great! I’ve never been a big poetry fan, but Sarah Ashwood’s poetry is interesting and colorful! A great read!
