Alien abductions. It would seem that all the strange disappearance of infants across planet Earth had a purpose. The Elders, a superior race of humanoids, are in a desperate race to put together a fighting force that could combat the dreaded Zillians. These militant reptiles from the center of the galaxy are on a rampage to decimate entire solar systems in their quest for food and blood. Desperate to build a fighting force to overcome the blood thirsty Zills, the Elders will train these infants in the fine art of warfare and tactics. This group will become the Paladins, an advance guard of super-warriors to turn the invading Zillians from planet Earth. In the mix we meet Ridi and Lensil who are commissioned for a dangerous recon mission to find out the exact strength of the Zillians invasion fleet. The World Council on Earth sends Dr. Alvan Grosset as an observer on this mission. Dr. Grosset has his own agenda that will pit him against the Paladins.

B.W. Philpot has written a technically savoy book that weaves humor, adventure and action into a fast paced read. Although some of the description can get a little weighty at times, the reader can quickly visualize what is going on and doesn’t hinder the action. The love hate relationship between Ridi and Lensil adds to the mix and Dr. Grosset becomes a player who turns up a surprising change by the end of the book. If you’re a die hard sci-fi fan you’ll probably enjoy this book. — Billi Caye
